Why can't I reset my password on Manjaro?

Essence of a question: 2 systems are established: Windows and Manjaro Linux. I forgot the password from the linux system, because for a long period there was a need to use Windows. I tried to boot from the Live image and reset the password by mounting the partition and the passwd command (in general, I did everything as before - according to ArchWiki) and by editing the grab boot files according to the instructions. But after booting the system from the disk, the password did not change and the problem persists to this hour. There is also a problem that when you run the Manjaro image, grab does not see the file system.
Please advise what could be the solution to these problems?

Do you know the password for live? Well, you can copy the hash of a known password from live to the installed system.
The /etc/shadow file (but do not copy the entire file, but the desired line from it).
