Why can't I make a request to the Vkontakte API?

When requesting an access token, the output is the following:

{"error":"invalid_request","error_description":"application was deleted"}

Although the application itself is active in the developer panel.

Well, the error says it all. If the application, as you are sure, still exists and is active, then try:

• Check the availability of the application by clicking on a link like vk.com/appXXX, where XXX is the identifier of the problematic application;
  
• Make sure you didn't misspell the application ID in the client_id in the API request;
  
• Delete / score on this application, create a new one and use it.
