Why can a RAM drive fail in Ubuntu?

I'm configuring SMS Server Tools, and tk. I have many modems, I transferred the entire pool of directories to the RAM drive -
/ram/modem0
/ram/modem1
....
/ram/modem16
It is mounted with the command mount -t tmpfs -o size=256M tmpfs /ram
/ smsd logs start skipping entries -
Cannot open dir /ram/modem4 No such file or directory
Cannot open dir /ram/modem10 No such file or directory
Cannot open dir /ram/modem2 No such file or directory
etc. At the same time, the listing of directories shows that these folders exist. How is this even possible?...

@sim3x

If you have a problem with this, then most likely you do not need to use a ram drive
