Why can a Project file hang over VPN?

The problem is when working with Project files via VPN, I have no idea where to dig.
There is a file which lies on a network drive, access on smb. When a person at home on a corporate laptop goes online, clings to VPN'u (on Kerio Control) and tries to run the Project file - it does not start. The application hangs in the processes, but does not want to work. There is no difference in the files, whether it is a 9MB file with 2500 lines, or a new one created with 10 and a weight of 100kb. If you copy the file to the desktop, there are no problems immediately starts.
At the same time, everything else works clearly and without problems, up to "puff" PDF weighing under 150mb or CAD'ovskih files of 50-200 meters, they are easily launched via VPN and work. The problem is in Project, which cannot be solved in any way. I climbed all the settings / trusted zones / etc. in the project itself, cut off antiviruses, firewalls, etc. Logs are clean.
