Why can a checkpoint process in postgresql take a long time?

There is a server on which the checkpointer process usually hangs for a lot of time.
Although, judging by what I know about the DBMS architecture, it should work every 5 minutes (I have such settings) and keep up with 0.7 time between launches.

I would like to know how regular this behavior is and should I pay attention to it? Or am I just not understanding how this component works?

It works out periodically, but the process itself in the OS is not beaten every time after that. Everything is fine.
