Why are tags displayed on the page, although they are hidden in the settings?

The whole problem is that I create a material type (I make a "long string", "image", "formatted text" there) and, accordingly, I make "labels" everywhere.
Further in editing the displays, I make the labels hidden (or visually hidden), but they are still shown. What have I done wrong?

@archelon

if links are visually hidden, then they are hidden in css using visibility:hidden or display:block
, you may have disabled or overridden the corresponding system styles
