Why are new folders not showing up in android studio?

I choose new from the file menu. I select Android Resource Directory from the list, fill out the form, press OK. The folder appears in the explorer, but not in the studio. Neither synchronization nor simply adding a folder helps. What could be the problem?

Left corner (where the project files), I think you have Android display mode selected there, click and select Project , should help
