Why are files disappearing?

I noticed such a thing that over time (a day or less), all files from the download folder, in which files from the browser are saved, they themselves disappear forever. What does this mean?

In the latest versions of android (if I'm not mistaken starting from 9.+) there is a storage manager, I'm not sure if it is enabled by default, but the essence of its work is to clean / delete files, photos, videos, etc after creating backups, to clean up space . Maybe that's the issue, check it out.
