Bootstrap is made on it, it's such a famous one.
And it doesn’t really matter LESS, SASS \ SCSS, Stylus or something else.
The main thing is the very fact of having a preprocessor. Because support is getting easier.
Everyone has some pluses, some minuses. Nothing prevents you from using different preprocessors in different projects.
ps I use SCSS myself. Mainly for the reason that it is the default in rails.

I use less primarily because of the syntax I prefer it to scss.
As the previous commentator said, one has no special advantages over the other, first of all, "a matter of taste", but with the moment, what to use from time to time on different projects is different, I do not agree - it can be trite confusion, due to the relative "similarity ", in the head, which will affect performance.
