Who has Freeswitch/Asterisk experience on Debian or CentOS?

I want to deploy telephony on a free VPS server from Oracle.
Worked with both. I have never dealt with CentOS at all, only Deb-based operating systems, mostly pure debian. And here I think - what to put then?

Server: 2x2.2GHz+1GB RAM.
I found just such an article on Habré, but it is from the 12th year. Maybe everything has changed? I mean comment:

In our tests, we most often rest on the speed of the switch - 100 Mbps, than on the power of the processor. If you want screenshots, I will. At the same time, with much weaker configurations, on Celeron, on Intel Pentium, not even on Core i3.

On our tests, the number of channels reached 2000, after which the network card ended. I don't know what's wrong with your hardware or configuration.

Yes, and comparing these two products is also not entirely ideologically correct: one is PBX, the second is SoftSwitch.

I have not yet fully understood the differences between SoftSwitch and PBX, since the dialplan, and the logic can be implemented on the first one on the other - I don't care. But that is not the issue now.

I can write configs for an asterisk well. On Friswich I trained notably less, but if I try, I can.

Let me summarize the question:
Who kept telephony on Debian * and on CentOS and which one - please share your experience. It would be cool if I found a person who had experience with both asterisk and friswich, and also on both operating systems.

What are the pros and cons you see?

Linux should be used either the one you know or the one your sysadmin friend knows.
That debian that tsentos from my point of view are equally stable. Centos didn’t work for me, but Debian is perfectly used.
I did only 2 projects in offices (small, 30-50 users each) and did it on PBX, maybe I'm not strong in Asterix configs.
It seems to me that if you know how to Asterix - do it on a clean ...

The official FreeSwitch installation instructions assume installation on Debian.
Installation scripts also for Debian.
Asterisk works just as well on CentOS, Debian, and even Arch with Gentoo, some install on BSD and Solaris.
I use CentOS and Ubuntu for my installations - works stable. Choose what you like best.
