Who creates empty msi.tmp folders?
Who creates temporary folders (empty, administrator access only) msiXXX.tmp (letters and numbers after msi) in the root of drive C and how to stop it?
In one place, they answered that the TEMP (or TMP) environment variable was incorrectly configured.
In the other, it's a virus, run a scanner from Microsoft. There was also advice to install software that will automatically clean up these empty folders.
There was also an answer to configure the invisibility of these folders. But why are they needed in storage? If any program creates them, then a removal mechanism is needed.

The msi folders are created by the operating system component - Microsoft Installer - when installing software or OS updates. There is nothing wrong with having these folders.
