Which virtual machine to put under Ubuntu14 to run Windows7?

On an Ubuntu14.04 machine with gui Unity (a fork of Gnome as far as I know)
There is a desire to drive Windows games, so I’m thinking of installing a virtual machine for this purpose and rolling Win7 onto it, because it’s not really ice to bother with running DirectX applications under Wine.
Which VM is best suited for these purposes?
