Which vector of further education to choose?

Good afternoon!
I will describe everything in detail. To understand the issue.
I study at the university in the first year, specialty - engineer (not IT). Ever since school I wanted to study and work in the future in the field of information security. The USE did not allow me to enter the desired specialty.
While studying at school, I studied Delphi, read some things about cryptography, the Internet, but not at a professional level, read the "hacker" magazine. After that, I started learning C++, but at the stage of transition to OOP, it became difficult and I slowed down.
Began to comprehend Linux. I know the basic level: working with the terminal and other things necessary for a "mere mortal" (not an administrator).
Now, I want to understand what I need to study, and in which direction to dig in order to obtain the necessary knowledge in the future.
1. What books / courses / are needed to understand the sphere of inf-bez?
2. Do I need to be able to use Linux? Kali linux, for example (as I understand it) is an important component of information security (pintest).
3. Is it necessary to know the PL? If so, which ones? And to what extent? Does it make sense to keep learning C++? Or choose something else? Java or Python?
4. What knowledge is required from workers in this area?

Read a lot of books, ideally all in the chosen direction and 30-40% of related ones.
If specifically on information security, then you need to know:
Read https://www.opennet.ru and www.linux.org.ru , on nag.ru
networks Decide on the field of activity and dig in more depth on it.

I am also in search of a development path and for myself I compiled a " Web Developer Development Map ".
