Task Management

Which task manager to choose for yourself?

I can’t find a suitable task manager for myself, something is missing in one, the other is full of functionality, the third is only on the phone. Here's what I need from the task manager:

  • Online or desktop version in addition to mobile.
  • Tracking completed tasks. - in Todoiste, for example, you can only see completed tasks in the settings, which is very inconvenient. Some of them don't have them at all.
  • Separation by "Projects", or more simply folders.
  • Free.
  • accessible interface.

I am looking for a task manager for myself, for everyday tasks in the first place (not habits), and some developments in my projects. The main goal is to be more productive and keep track of what I have done in a day/week/month.

Tried a bunch of different ones for personal use, but I didn’t choose anything. Then I stopped and thought about the methodology. Task managers are just an automated system. To automate something, you need the basic process itself. Therefore, I took an ordinary paper diary (Actually, a notebook with a removable block), and began to keep it in the context of a day, a week, notes during meetings, using the bullet notes methodology. Now it has already become possible to automate it, but Experience has shown that handwritten notes are digested better. And for information that you need to keep for yourself for the future, I chose obsidian + Gitnotes, but this solution is already like a personal wiki.

Try Microsoft To Do. Available for all platforms. I've been using it for six months now and I'm happy with it. It is also possible to create folders, they are also categories

For domestic use alone, of course, it's overkill, but just in case, look at youtrack.

ticktick look.
In general, for some time I tried a combination of MD + git and suddenly it went pretty well.
If you are completely maniac - OrgMode in emax)

try Microsoft To Do - it's a bit of a twist on the famous Wunderlist.
I use Things - I like it too, but it's quite noticeable, and it only works on apples.

Here on the point about the completed tasks, I can advise the leader task. He does not have it in the settings, but in a special column, so to speak. For the rest, it’s also suitable, but for the rest, it seems that all task managers are suitable. In addition to free. You can only get a limited version for free. Or a weak program. So about free you turned down, probably. Although the free version in the leadertask that I recommended is pretty good, there is only a limit on the number of simultaneous tasks and projects. But when I was sitting on the trial, I didn’t feel that this was a direct problem, because I delete what I already did.
