Task Management
Vadim, 2014-01-14 10:25:01

Which task manager to choose for a studio with a staff of 25 people?

I am looking for a task manager for the needs of the studio with a staff of 25 people.
I am considering options paid / free, cloud / my own server.
Requirements:

  • User groups (Design, Frontend, Backend, Managers);
  • Timeline / Gantt chart for tasks;
  • Scheduled time;
  • actual time;
  • Task priority;
  • Ability to set a draft task;
  • Dependent tasks;
  • Subtasks;
  • Checklists;
  • Attaching pictures, documents and other files to a task/comment;
  • Paid or unpaid task;
  • Appointment of a "task follower";
  • Notification about the end of the task (not closing, but the end of the time for the task);
  • Essence "Project", "Subproject";
  • Entity "Client";
  • Creating a task from a letter;
  • Possibility to leave a comment to the task via mail;
  • Assignment of tariffs for each project to performers (rubles/hour);
  • Automated project budget reporting;
  • Automated reporting on the performance of performers;
  • Visual part for the client;
  • Separation of rights to read comments (you need to show some comments to support clients);
  • The same person can have different specializations (this happens);
  • Normal interface;
  • Search by tasks, comments.

Tried MyIntervals but the interface is terrible.

Try Redmine
Satisfies most of your criteria. Can be customized to your needs. There are a lot of plugins. If necessary, you can write your own. The documentation is good, the community is there. The project is actively supported and developed.

make your own task manager, you can take Drupal and make all the functionality in a day or two + n-days to make up your design for the site, for 25 people I think this is not a difficult task

One of the companies that I consulted used TeamLab and this system made the most pleasant impression on me.
I myself now use ASANA , but there is very modest functionality.
It also seems to me promising a bunch of MindMaps + ToDo performed by MindJet

Never start learning from random videos. Start by designing and solving customer problems. A few articles on the topic of design and a review of books . Then study the issue of typography in detail and you will get +200 in karma.
Personally, I started out with HTML/CSS layout, which I wouldn't do if given the chance to reacquaint myself with web design.
Separately, I want to advise the literature:
Web Design: a book by Steve Krug or "do not force ...
A mental hospital in the hands of patients
Alan Cooper about the interface. Fundamentals of designing an adult ...

  • Web design does not necessarily include layout. There will always be layout designers.
  • Photoshop courses? A useful thing, of course, but nothing more. Photoshop is just a tool. Slightly more advanced than a sheet of paper with a pencil and markers (or an easel with paints)
  • The most important thing that everyone forgets about is learning to draw, learning to see a beautiful and user-friendly interface, learning to make mockups and think through the logic of sites and applications, study usability, work with color, composition, typography and much more.

Google is advised here. Nothing like that. It is very difficult for a beginner to find a sensible one in all this garbage. The entrance to the profession of a designer is quite cloudy. Here I once wrote a couple of articles especially for beginners.

It's obvious. Filter found videos for "Web" and practice as much as possible. For layout, I recommend a video from Sorax.

Video lessons, this is entertainment for schoolchildren, if you want it yourself, go ahead to htmlbook.ru
Courses? The same damn thing only in profile, again, if there are questions about tags / properties, the above will help.
As for JS, the road is to javascript.ru, and for working with jQuery, you can take a walk on jquery.page2page.ru
Personally, photoshop is evil! I never liked it, that's why I adhere to minimalism and began to typeset flat before it became mainstream.
