Which switch to choose for the local network and the Internet?
Welcome all. The task is to create a local network with a server computer (1C), printers and workstations. Plus computers must have access to the Internet. As I see the situation: we take a router (one that suits the technology: twisted pair or ADSL), we take a switch with the required number of ports. Since the company is not big, the 24 port router is beyond the eyes. But since I didn’t dive into this topic very deeply, I have concerns that by taking a non-configurable switch, I won’t be able to register the ip of computers and printers. I ask for clarification: are my statements true or not (will I still have to take an insistent switch)? And another question: given that more than 5 computers are connected to the 1C server, is it desirable to have a port on the switch that supports 1 Gb / s or is 100 enough?
