Which SSD to put in Macbook Pro Retina 13 early 2015 model A1502?
I want to replace the stock SSD in Macbook Pro Retina 13 early 2015 model A1502.
Now it costs 128GB, I want to replace it with 1TB.
Please help me choose a disc.
I also heard that an adapter is required to install a new SSD - tell me which adapter is needed and whether it is possible to buy one in the Russian Federation. I would be grateful for links to stores.
I’m looking at these SSD models, but I’m not sure if they are suitable and I don’t understand which one to choose:
- Samsung MZ-V7E1T0BW
- Western Digital WD Black SN750 1 TB (WDS100T3X0C)

Your laptop has an Apple proprietary PCIe 2.0 x4 SSD (they can also be called blades) made specifically for Apple, most likely by Samsung.
I heard that you need an adapter to install a new SSDWe once studied this issue from the side of data recovery, as far as I remember, people with adapters wrote that CRC errors were pouring in (I don’t have details on this).
Nikita, hello.
You need an adapter like this , this is the first store that fell out of Google, you can look for the same one but in a different place by name. There are on Ali they are for $ 3-5, the same. Do not cut speed.
Regarding your choice of SSD:
1. Drop the WD right away. A very bad option, I don’t know what you are doing, but it can stupidly turn off under load, I’ll explain - if you start multi-threaded parsing in mysql, the load on the disk increases and it goes out. Apparently the controller does not cope or it simply overheats. It wasn't even interesting to understand.
2. Samsung 970 Evo is a bad model and you can't take it under any circumstances now, they quickly upgraded it to 970 evo PLUS! (Model MZ-V7S500BW). It seems to be a good model on 1TB, the speed after the cache sags not so ... But be prepared for the fact that you will not be able to install mac OS on it right away (this is the worst case scenario), at best, just after installation, the speed will be less than stated! What is the problem: in many deliveries, the firmware version is the very first without mac OS support and the firmware can be easily updated through the official Samsung software, but ONLY UNDER WINDOWS. I mean, you either need a PC at hand with an m2 slot or install Windows on a macbook just to update the firmware! But in 95% of cases it will have to be done anyway!
From myself, I’ll note a good SSD m2: XPG SX8200 Pro 1 TB
Over the hill is very popular for installation on Apple equipment.
UPD. And as DevMan wrote, it's better to buy original Apple memory, it's more expensive for a reason. Let me explain: Your macbook, for example, has an SSD write speed in the region of 1500 if I'm not mistaken, and after filling the SLC cache, the speed drops to only 900-1000. Samsung, on the other hand, with beautiful numbers of 3000 for sequential recording, drops after filling the cache to 600-700, which is 5 times less than declared!
