Which server to install on xubuntu to develop applications in php?

I have xubuntu and I need a server to build php applications. I used to set LAMP, but it was a long time ago and maybe something appeared that unfolds faster (otherwise I forgot how to set lamp) and is more functional? And I would like to have gnix instead of apache in order to practice installing it. What do you advise?

What's the problem? Install nginx + php-fpm.
