Which scripting language for everyday tasks should I choose?

You need something on which you can parse the file, implement a backup and build a website over a cup of coffee. In general, something as universal as possible, capable of helping out when solving the widest possible range of tasks.

Perl used to be useful for this.
Now python is extremely relevant, with its out-of-the-box support for various software
. In parallel, learn the basics of php a bit, because there are a lot of ready-made solutions / sites / frameworks.
That is, at the junior level, it’s good to know all three, but go deep into python.

I write the same in D. Also very pleased. The output is an exe file, and it doesn't matter if it's a console utility or a whole self-hosted site. With Python, unfortunately, this cannot be done, although it can be used to solve the same tasks a little faster.

forget python, stop poking a stick in php, a scripting language for almost any task with wide distribution is js.
