Which RAM to choose for a laptop?

The aser aspire e17 laptop has two 4gb 1rx8 pc3-12800s-11-13-b4 sticks. 2 slats 8gb pc3 10600 cl9 204-pin sodimm fell into my hands. Is it worth changing? Will I lose much in performance if I chase volume?
