Which programming language should a sysadmin choose?

Good afternoon! Actually the essence of the question is:
What should the administrator choose for work? I worked mainly with windows. Linux is a priority to learn.
What programming language to make it clear at the initial level. And you could use it in your work, and in the future, if you like it, switch to another programming language. Start with scripts or phyton?
If you advise materials I will be grateful.
PS Links to materials and personal opinions on this subject are welcome.
UPD: Corrected the question due to incorrect wording.

Do you call yourself an admin without knowing how to write shell scripts?
With them, you need to start.
or phyton
After scripts. For a Unix admin, IMHO, it's also a must.
admin for hobby
If the administrator of Unix systems, then not for a hobby, but for direct professional activity.

shell, python, ruby.
Last 2 to choose from. Approximately equally used in software. Particularly in configuration management systems. (Chef, Ansible etc).

bash + python + php
such a bunch can already make a normal service with normal management.
For example, familiar balls can be displayed in the web interface and make it look like a cloud service within the company, with authorization and rights. Output in DMZ as file.%company_name%.org
