You connect via WinSCP, then just open the document from the WinSCP file manager in any editor you like. Saving the result is sent to the hosting.
Tried with notepad++, it has a built-in FTP plugin. A little time passes and the saves are not transferred to the hosting. In conjunction with WinSCP, there are no such troubles, it works with a bang!
