Which path should a computer science sophomore take: Java or Python?

I am a second year student in computer science. I know C programming bases. C++ data structures. Now at the university we are going through OOP in Java. This summer I did an internship, where I wrote an application on React Native and worked with machine learning. Most of all I liked working with the backend and writing mobile applications, but I don’t want to go into the field of developing pure mobile applications. I didn't like machine learning at all. It seems that I would like to choose java, because it doesn’t matter to me what to write on: python or java, and the average salary in java is higher. But still there are thoughts that I am mistaken with the choice.
In the future I want to work abroad, build a career. What would you advise me?

@longclaps

I would advise not to be mistaken.
But this is unlikely.

@sim3x

the average salary in java is higher
no, they don’t pay for knowledge of PL, they pay for your experience.
In any case, you will have to learn more than one or even two PL
. Choose the first PL for work based on the availability of jobs in your region in the direction in which Java is going to work - Python
is verbose
- smart
