Which NAS OS to Choose?

Good day.

We have 4 hdd, wd blue 500gb. Half dead.
Proc Intel Core e6400.
4giga ddr2
Some ancient mother.

I want a file cleaner for:
Downloading by torrent
Watching videos from your phone (iOS) and TV (webos)
Accessing files from outside the local network
Storing non-important data
Human interface on the web

That is, there is no question of reliability.

What OS to choose for such a server, so that without dancing with a tambourine, it will not slow down on such hardware?

It is quite difficult to set up, but DSM works fine on the Xpenology bootloader. Even the old version 5.2, which installed without any problems at all, provides a more convenient interface than many other systems. In addition, there are compatible applications from Synology in the app stores for phones (manage files, downloads, etc.)
