Which is better Ubuntu or Mint?

Good afternoon everyone! I want to put Linux on a laptop, some advise Mint others Ubuntu. Acer swift 3 laptop, for writing texts, maybe some games and for watching videos. What do you advise? What are the pros and cons of these OPs?
PS They say Ubuntu only updates kernels and security but not applications.

ubuntu updates the entire repository.
but, only if there are updates in the application source.
Ubuntu does not code third party applications.
maximum finishes a little in place and drives through the tests.
the differences between mint and ubuntu are only in the interface :)
if you want to choose, then I advise you to try kubntu, lubuntu, xubuntu and others like them. maybe the rest will like it more.
you can try from live distributions from a flash drive.

If there is a minimum or no knowledge in Linux and it is needed only for the above tasks, then I advise you to look in the direction of Manjaro Linux. Although this is another "variety", because. it is not Ubuntu/Debian similar, but based on Arch Linux, but for a desktop OS it is quite convenient, user-friendly, so to speak.

On a laptop, both are worse. Put Windows, and Linux if needed - in a virtual machine / WSL.

What do you write texts in?
If LibraOffice suits or Google DOCS is fine, then any of them + as an option Fedora or Manjaro Linux
If the office suite is MS Office, then stay on Windows
A for a change, use WSL (Linux subsystem) in Win 10 / 11

Mint and Ubuntu are pretty much the same thing. When problems in Mint are even advised to search the Internet for solutions for Ubuntu and they will do.
I advise mint, it is simpler and more familiar after Windows, I just don’t know if you can do it normally about games.

Ubutu will be livelier. On a strange lenovo 560 mint (xfce) slowed down. Xubuntu turned out to be more cheerful.
