Which is better to learn, Java or C#?

Everyone says that Java is more in demand, but a long time ago I saw the statistics of requests from one job search site, and it turned out that although there were fewer vacancies in C #, there were much more people looking for work in Java. Recently, I went to HH.ru twice at different times and took the first five Java and C# vacancies in Moscow, added up how many people "are currently looking at this vacancy" and divided by 5. On average, many more people are looking for a job in Java. But with all this, there is almost no work at all on Stack overflow in Jobs in C # compared to Java, which undermines the hope that I could be in demand abroad. What to choose to find a job in the last years of university or after university?

Guy, It's
not the languages themselves that are in demand, but specialists who can work in these languages.
And you will need to learn so much that you should not look at the median, but at yourself - which is closer to you. Because in the process of learning, you will climb the wall more than once and scream why I got into this fucking IT.
Personally, you should have a soul for technology, so as not to abandon it in a month, in a year, in 5 years, in 30 years.
Why are you asking randoms from the internet? The junior level is tons of knowledge, and it's a very very minimal amount that allows a java junior to switch to a C# junior pretty quickly, and get an outsider's perspective on top of that. Therefore, while you are climbing hh, competitors are already writing their first project.

Language is a tool. Your skills as a developer are important (algorithms, data structures, understanding tcp / ip, etc.)
As for choosing a language, focus on:
- what you are going to do in it and who you plan to work with. If, for example, we are talking about game development, then of course C # (Unity) or C ++. And then Java, well, nothing ... although it allows you to write games. If enterprise, then yes, here you can already choose between Java & C #.
- Focus on where you plan to work. It is possible that as a result of your research you will realize that Java is more popular than C # (or vice versa), but in fact it turns out that in your country / city it is not popular at all. Accordingly, look at what companies you have in your city (if you plan to work offline) and study their stack.
Well, of course, try it. For example, while I got to Java, I managed to try PHP & JavaScript. In any case, when you become a sought-after and experienced specialist, you will already be fluent in several languages.

Pfft, I also have a problem, learn everything. I never understood people who try to fixate on one thing, try everything and if you like something, develop in it. Well, two is not enough, you need more.
