Which is better: 2 x 16 GB or 4 x 8 GB?
I'm building a PC for gaming. Faced with the question: is it better to put the RAM with 4 slats of 8 GB or 2 of 16 GB?

It depends on the specific model of your memory. The QVL for this motherboard indicates support for two and four sockets of different brackets: https://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/Z490%20Pro4/index....
That is, for example, HX436C17PB3K2/32 will start in four slots, and HX436C17PB3AK2/32 is no longer there (meaning the work of the XMP profile. It will work on JDEC). I would take 2x16.
A 700W PSU is more than enough for such a system.
With such a processor (max. supported memory frequency 2666 MHz) it makes no sense to take such memory at all. You can take 32GB almost twice cheaper, look for memory with a maximum frequency of 2666 MHz, and already 2 or 4 bars - it doesn’t matter, if you don’t plan to upgrade the
PSU in the future, take it with a margin, 1KV
