Which engine to choose for a desktop game?

I’m actually interested in such a topic, I want to make a simple game, not for mobile phones, but for desktop (pc, linux, poppy), I don’t have much desire to use unity and so far I choose from two options: libgdx or js / html5 / canvas.
Personally, it will be easier for me to use the second option myself, but I'm not sure that it will all work adequately, smoothly and accurately (there will be no special graphics, a simple quest or something like that with a side / top view, an ordinary turkey in general) , so I'm also considering using libgdx.
I also thought about a game maker, but I'm not sure if the free version is suitable for this.
In general, advise which of these options is better suited, and if there is something else, it would be great if you send links to read.

If you like js/html5/canvas then look towards cocos2d-x
