Which DNS server to choose for home?
Probably a dumb question, but I'd still like to know.
OS - Ubuntu Server 12.04
Some knowledge in Linux is already there, but not much.
I wanted to put BIND as the most "famous", but I read that it is too cumbersome for such small networks.
Actually, the task is only to make it possible to access computers on the local network by name (eg room1.local), and not by IP. Also, in the foreseeable future, I would like to implement a scheme with domains / subdomains for a web server on the same machine, i.e. to install LAMP on the same server (for example) and configure the whole thing so that, for example, you can open one "site" at site1.server.local (or site1.local is not the point), but at site2.server. local open another.
PS There is one more idea, now the server distributes IP in three ranges (1-50, 100-150, 200-250) and I would like to make it possible to determine its upstream DNS servers for each range. I just want to use Yandex.DNS so that for one range the server accesses the base DNS server, from the other to the safe one, and the third to the family (or generally only to the home).

pdnsd or bind the first one is very simple and fast enough, the second one has a huge pile of documentation.
