Which distribution kit to choose for an elderly laptop?
There is a laptop - ASUS K53SV
I5 2410m
GT540m
3Gb RAM It
will be used as a piece of iron for watching a kinchik and rare forays into the world of dota and cs:go.
I choose between ubuntu and mint (I know that almost the same thing, but still)
But the point is not even in this, but in the following.
What bit depth to put on such a machine with a 3GB frame?
Will it die from 64 and is there any really big difference in work between 64 and 32 in such conditions.
For any advice, including interesting distros, I will be grateful!

Laptop on i5 - old? Well, you and eat ...
First of all, you need to start from the programs that will be launched. For example, if you need Viber, it stupidly does not have a 32-bit version. And this is such a general trend that it’s easier not to argue with it, you still won’t notice the critical difference between x64 and x32, except for such nuances.
No matter how gluttonous DE will be, in any case, it will be lighter than a modern browser. You don't want them to eat memory from both ends, and don't rejoice at whistleblowers - well, Xfce is enough for the general case. By and large, there is no need to run around distributions in search of some differences - with Xubuntu it will be elementary easier to solve problems if they arise.
It is worth trying a simpler browser, it will suddenly come in. Midori, for example, recently updated...
Well, there should be no problems with firewood if it is a fresh distribution kit and stale hardware. Provided that pieces of iron in general are supported in Linux.
And why not add memory to him? Allegedly there are 2 slots and a total of up to 8 gig can. And the rest of the iron, as already written here, is still quite suitable. And now, on any distribution, everything will rest against memory.
I chose mint mate
ubuntu I don’t digest
x64
chrome at all 5-7 tabs (all together) eats 1.3 - 2gb RAM

Choosing between ubuntu and mintI would recommend some lightweight one like: Puppy Linux, Damn Small Linux, Knoppix, antiX
