Which development environment to choose for mac os?

I bought a Mac Book Pro and decided to study programming, but as it turned out that C is the basic programming language on which everything is based ... I was tormented in search of compilers for poppy. Tried in Xcode but doesn't come up with required libraries not offered in manuals
Help with finding either compilers or looking for manuals

Xcode. What libraries exactly do you offer tutorials that are not in llvm? And yes, the development environment != compiler.
