I have been learning php (Laravel) for several years and working as a back-end programmer. I studied technologies myself on various resources, I never had a mentor or a superior programmer guru who would suggest how best to act in certain situations. Behind this, I believe that in the course of work I can use the wrong approaches. My manager and IT director (who knows nothing about it technologies and deals with finances) said that the company would cover any costs for my training.
