I would like to do without GAPPS, to find some alternative. I usually pull the entire GAPPS package for the sake of just this chip. Is there another option that allows you to import existing contacts into it and then work only with this separate program on different Android devices?

In general, there is a Google Contacts service in which you can edit contacts online + install one application on your devices, and they immediately appear there. And, of course, there is synchronization, so you can edit a contact in one place, and it will immediately appear everywhere.
