Which chip / module to use for Wi-Fi positioning (without data transmission)?

There is a device with a CPU (Cortex-M3) and battery power. It is necessary to add the possibility of Wi-Fi positioning (connection to a WiFi network and data transfer over it is not required). It is planned to use Yandex.locator.
Please suggest a module or chip for reading the BSSID (MAC address) and PWR (signal strength) of surrounding WiFi networks. I understand that any WiFi module will cope with this task, but my goal is to find the minimum (in terms of money and size) sufficient device. Are there any solutions (<10$) that, paired with my CPU, will allow me to get these parameters?

Now budget modules based on the Chinese chip ESP8266 are popular .
