Which book to read on the architecture of modern networks?

I'm looking for a modern (new edition) entry-level book about devices and protocols for building a network.

What's wrong with the old editions? For example, I heard a lot of flattering things about Tannenbaum "Computer Networks".
+Now there is a course on networks on Coursera (although it has been going on for a month already)
