Where to start reading someone else's code?

I am a beginner Java programmer. I've been learning to program in Java for only half a year. In the future, I want to switch to the Android platform and create mobile applications. But first, I want to learn how to read someone else's code. Where would you advise me to start? Where can I find the source codes for simple projects? (More precisely, how to properly operate Github to search for source codes for beginners?)

start reading, all of a sudden, from the application's entry point.
open source projects, even more suddenly, are, for example, on github!
