Where to start learning microprocessor programming?

I study at the university, there were classes on the basics of microprocessor programming, but they didn’t really explain anything. I would like to know from the very beginning about everything, what it is, what to do with it and how to learn to do it well.
Thanks in advance!

Where to start recovery?
I went to the doctor with abdominal pain, the doctor did an enema, but the pain did not go away. And I would like to get better.
The answer seems obvious to me personally: either change the doctor, or self-medicate, i.e. independent study of microprocessors and their programming. :)
If you choose the second option, start with physics, logic circuitry, and microprocessor architecture/design. Then move on to computer science, learn assembler, C and maybe VHDL. buy yourself a board as soon as possible (yes, at least the same Arduino) and learn to write programs. There is no other way to recovery.

If for academic purposes, then you can take the MSP430 Launchpad.

There are other microcontrollers, ARM is gaining popularity. There is also a PIC.
