Where to start developing Android firmware?
Tell me where to start, or something in any way, the development of Android firmware? I want to start small, change the appearance of the existing one, add my own applications to replace the standard ones, and so on. I have been writing in C++ for a long time, I am a little familiar with Java. But in theory, the Android firmware device is generally zero. And immediately a follow-up question, which apparatus is better to use for experiments on this topic?

And from the devices, I would take the last / penultimate Nexus. Or, as an option, buy 2-3 devices from your hands, so as not to be afraid to experiment with them))
