Where to get opensource apps for android?

Are there analogues of sites like sourceforge for android applications? In google play, almost all free applications with ads, restrictions, etc. Some just don't. For example, not a normal torrent download manager.
What about open source software for android? Where can I find it, is there a large community, what are some interesting projects that are not in the market?

They are all in Googleplay, on their pages there are links to github or something like that. The most serious, IMHO - vlc, xabber, connectbot.
