Where should a tester start?

There is a person who is very far from IT.
However, quite erudite and quite quick-witted, and most importantly trainable. Age about 40.
He asked me to offer him options for who he could theoretically become in IT.
My options:

  • copywriter
  • directologist
  • tester

We settled on a tester.
Now the question is where to start (usability testing).
Interested in literature / courses and so on.
I myself write on RoR and don't even know what to tell him...

Manual testers can also make good money, but, looking at the vacancies, many also want basic knowledge of sql, selenium.
Look at the courses on Portnov's YouTube.
Later you can take QATestLab courses, for example, they are free. There you will get practice.
From books...that's how everyone praises Kaner, but I liked the English book by Lee Copeland "A practitioner's Guide to Software Test Design", there is more practice.
Learn English, write out words from the book and remember it that way.
Good luck!

A tester who is not a programmer is not a qualified job, in the same category as Seosprint and the like, so you need to learn how to program.

The best start is Savin's book
