Where is canvas used besides toys?

Hello, actually, the question is sounded in a subject. All attempts to google this case led, at worst, to a description of game development, at best, to various decoration animations. I am indifferent to both, but the technology itself seems curious. Is canvas used in games other than animation decorations? Is it possible to do something else utilitarian-useful on it?
