Where do Google Drive folder icons go on OS X Yosemite?

After creating a folder in any directory inside Google Drive, after a while (apparently after synchronization), the folder icon will disappear.
This happens all the time, but only with Google Drive.
On the desktop and in other directories, the icons do not disappear anywhere.
In the Google Drive settings I tried to uncheck the item - "show sync status icons and context menu", but this did not solve the problem.
I never used custom icons, everything is by default.
