Where did the social bookmarks go?

I accidentally remembered that for 5 years I have not come across social bookmarking services anywhere, but before they were used en masse and were in the tops of search engine results. What is the reason? After all, it was a handy tool. Just out of fashion? Or maybe the search engines began to underestimate them in the results, so they were blown away? Or have people found a more convenient alternative?
