Where did https come from?

I took a new VDS, put VestaCP at the end of the installation with a line with the login address, login and password. Login address: https://92.92.222.222:8083
Question
: in order for the data to be packed into SSL via https, it seems that you need to either buy a certificate, or take a free one, install it there? Where did he come from?
True, when entering the address, the browser is indignant and says " uses an invalid security certificate " i.e. For the site, as I understand it, such a certificate cannot be used? Is it possible for an API server?

This is a self-signed certificate. generated on your server. By itself, it will not pass validation in browsers. Click Allow.

Since the presence of at least some certificate is a prerequisite for https to work, if there is neither a purchased nor a free certificate, a so-called "self-signed" certificate is usually generated. Of course, there is no trust in him, he does not pass any test - but he is. You can manually add it to the trusted ones - and then next time there will be no alert.
