Where can you put free 6gb of RAM in linux?

The main question is in the title. Maybe there is magic that can do nice things with free memory (I use mostly rails, chromium, vim, autotests = 2gb).

I’ve also been proud here for more than a year that I have 8 gig ...
And then I noticed that “Damn, how can it be that when FF and Minecraft are running, the computer starts to lag like a “kopeck piece” ?!”
It turned out that he sees 8 gig - he sees, but to use more than two - alas!
I had to install 64-bit Ubuntu - somehow the questions "Where to put the memory" disappeared - the system itself understands where these expanses can be burrowed! ..

Do nothing, linux will cache itself into memory.

It may be trite, but ramdisk - mount -t tmpfs -o size=xxxM tmpfs /mnt/tmpfs/
you can put mysql databases on it, for example ...

My free space is occupied by FS caches.
