Where and how does the program get the data?

The program that I use sends requests to a certain server and receives the data I need. Is it possible to find out the way the program communicates? I installed the jnettop utility, but it gives out only the server address (I don’t even know why I expect GET to be there). The program is called Metatrader, it is a trading platform. You need to get quotes for certain timeframes. My broker's website has a chart and my usual web requests, but there is no tick volume. There is a volume in MT and you need to understand where and how it gets the data I need, if possible, of course.
