Has anyone come across such a problem?

The most interesting thing is that Whonix-Gateway (gateway) starts without problems. When I try to start Whonix-Workstation, the computer seems to hang, no windows pop up with errors, the mouse cursor freezes, it is difficult to move, I was able to click on the VirtualBox window where I found "CRITICAL ERROR" in the Whonix-Workstation section and eventually , after a couple of minutes of torment, the computer screen goes blank but the mouse cursor remains and even moves, although always in different ways ((
sometimes everything just hangs

Most likely, the problem arose due to a lack of RAM on the physical machine (your PC). During startup, there is a reserve of RAM for the virtual machine, by default, the gateway and workspace account for more than 3 GB of RAM, because of this, your main system crashes (because apparently the amount of your RAM is less than or equal to 4 GB) . It will be optimal to edit the reserve of RAM when creating a virtual machine: for Whonix gateway at least 750 MB; for Whonix workstation not less than 1500 MB. These values have been determined empirically and are only suitable for the simplest tasks.
