When installing Ubuntu on a MacBook, the touchpad and keyboard do not work. What to do?

I made a bootable USB flash drive through the terminal os x and restarted the poppy. Chose it to download, chose install Ubuntu. The system boots up and prompts me to select a language. But I can neither select the buttons on the keyboard nor move the cursor. Please tell me what to do? Linux is for studying..

@PaulinhoZh

take a mouse and / or keyboard from a neighbor.
and for study, a penguin in a virtual machine is usually enough.
