When creating a symlink (windows 10), the disk size does not decrease, why?
there is a laptop installed 2 SSD drives for the system and browser and HDD for files and other programs. There is not enough space on the SSD, I decided to transfer some non-critical folders to the HDD. I used the mklink utility, the shortcut was created on the SSD, I transferred the folder to the HDD, everything works great. BUT the space on the SSD did not increase, as if I did not transfer the files. Why?
I did it like this:
SSD is drive C
HDD is drive D
mklink /D "C:/Windows/Temp" "D:/System files/Temp"

Why should it decrease? Creating or deleting files does not affect the disk size in any way.
To change the size of the disk, you need to go to the disk management and select - shrink or expand the volume.
Then the size will change.
If you are talking about the size of free space, you still have the previous contents of the folder in the shadow copies that are stored on drive C. You did not transfer the shadow storage, as far as I understand.
