What video card to choose for games on linux?
The question is which card to take for games by type (CS the witcher 3, etc.) under Linux
And another question, I understand that the drivers are divided into open and proprietary ones, which one is better to install or how big is the difference

I will support all the previous ones who left the answer, if the goal is to play, then linux is a very bad choice.
By manufacturers and video cards.
1. Intel. Open source drivers. Supported even better than in Windows. An excellent choice if you can get by with a weak video card. One trouble, these are only dead embeddings in the processor.
2. Radeon. There are working open drivers and unnecessary proprietary ones. Only 3-4 year old cards are normally supported. On the new ones, get ready for crashes, X's are falling and vigorously all the time. You will follow the release of kernel and mesa updates, hoping that something else will be fixed in them.
3. Nvidia. There is a non-working open one and a working proporiate one. The option is not bad, but the need to use proprietary drivers can greatly interfere.
I choose nvidia, but the taste and color of all markers are different.
I have a Sapphire Radeon RX 5700 XT, it works without problems under Ubuntu, you can take it. In 1080p, everything is lucky without problems.
